Event Spotlight: Whittle the Wood Rendezvous
Posted: May 29, 2018 by Step Beyond Media
Looking for something to take dad to this Father’s Day. Start planning now to attend the 19th Annual Whittle the Wood Rendezvous in Craig this year. Watch as twelve master carvers from around the country transform tree stumps over four days into breathtaking works for art. When several trees in Craig became diseased, the community responded by starting the first Whittle the Wood festival. From then on, the event has become a county phenomenon.
Thinking that watching wood carving might not be your thing? The Rendezvous has become so popular, that several other organizations have partnered up to make the festival truly fun for the whole family. Starting on Friday, two days after the carvers began masterminding their masterpieces, the Bear River Young Life kicks off the weekend with their 14th Car Show and a free BBQ. Saturday festivities begin with Moffat County’s oldest annual race, the Wake the Whittler 5k, and the Pirates of the Yampa River Race. Art booths, food vendors, live music, and a beer garden follow suit. The annual Rendezvous culminates in an award ceremony and more live music.
